The Product Manager is a visionary and evangelist that works closely with the professional accounting market.  The Product Manager defines the strategic vision of the product suite and champions product success. With support from the Product Executive, the Product Manager has a shared responsibility to lead product development. The Product Manager ensures that the right products are taken to market that drives sustainable and ongoing client success.

If you want to:

  • Maintain and communicate the vision and direction of the practice management product suite.
  • Set goals and objectives for product releases.
  • Understand and communicate market and client needs and prioritize product development accordingly.
  • Define product marketing strategies and execute them in collaboration with sales & marketing teams.
  • Set delivery dates and drive the overall delivery of product to market.
  • Keep customers and key stakeholders highly engaged.
  • Communicate with key stakeholders.
  • Represent the customer interface and engage the customer – using your personal knowledge (subject matter expert) as well as consulting with platform providers, implementation teams and clients.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the customer needs to ensure we continuously deliver value.
  • Work closely with sales to understand and improve win rates.
  • Build a strong partnership with the Product Owner(s).
  • Work closely with the Product Owner(s) to develop appropriately detailed specifications for product features so that they are clearly understood by the development teams.
  • Express what value-added is from a customer perspective and focus the development efforts toward providing that value.
  • Ensure product success.
  • Communicate status externally.
  • Ensure profitability (ROI).
  • Ensure delivery of the roadmap.
  • Validate value proposition through customer engagement, such as beta testing
  • Integrate cross functional teams required to deliver products to markets.
  • Collaborate closely with the product development team.
  • Participate in team activities like planning, product demos and reviews.
  • Provide day-to-day, just-in-time, tactical decisions to system level questions and prioritization.
  • Closely collaborate with the team on an ongoing basis to guide and direct the product development team.
  • Facilitate a multitude of meetings with customers and other stakeholders to communicate product strategy, direction, product functionality etc.
  • Work closely with external content providers to ensure products are compliant.

And you have:

  • A good understanding of, and passion for, how practice management software creates significant efficiency and value for our clients.
  • Detailed understanding of and exposure to South African practice management landscape and specifically, the needs practices have around secretarial as well as time & billing responsibilities.
  • Exposure to South African accounting, tax, financial reporting principles, and legislation will be advantages.
  • Understanding and exposure to our or other secretarial and time & billing product suites is beneficial.
  • Previous practice management experience would be a big plus.
  • Exceptional technical and data-analysis skills, with a demonstrated passion for technology.
  • Good working knowledge and interest in Cloud-based software.
  • Ideally, previous experience in the development and / or customization of financial reporting software.
  • Practice Management software & systems exposure a big plus

And these essential skills:

  • At least 5 – 8 years in financial sector / practice management and subject matter expert roles.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working in or within a practice management firm and practice management clients.
  • Experience in a software development business would be advantageous.
  • BCom Accounting (NQF7)
  • Post-graduate degree in Accounting Science (CTA)- Desirable
  • Chartered Accountant – CA(SA)- Desirable
